What is Restorative Dental Care?
Restorative dental services includes any procedure that aims to restore the normal function and appearance of your smile.
Repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth, our dentists can help restore your smile – and your oral health.
The dentists at SouthWest Dental will evaluate your smile and determine the right restorative treatment option for you.
Dental Crowns
Crowns are hollow porcelain caps that can be placed over the top of teeth to restore their function and appearance. Crowns can be used to attach bridges, cover dental implants or prevent a cracked tooth from becoming more damaged. They can also help to improve the appearance of a discoloured or stained tooth.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a natural-looking tooth replacement that can be bonded to existing teeth or dental implants to replace a section of missing teeth. Bridges are custom made and barely noticeable. A dental bridge can help to restore the natural contour of your jaw, and correct bite issues between your upper and lower jaws.
Dental Fillings
At SouthWest Dental, we use composite (tooth-coloured) fillings to discreetly repair a cavity or other damage to a tooth such as a crack. These fillings are barely noticeable and can withstand moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing. Composite fillings can be used on front or back teeth.
Full & Partial Dentures
Dentures are artificial teeth that help patients to maintain their facial structure, as well as talk and eat properly. Dentures can be used to replace a single missing tooth or several in a row (partial dentures), or a full jaw of missing teeth (full dentures).
Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and onlays are used to repair cavities when the damage is too extensive for a standard dental filling. These tooth-coloured porcelain fillings are custom-made in a dental laboratory, then permanently cemented to the tooth as a single piece to help restore the natural appearance and function of the tooth.
TMJ Disorder Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a hinge connecting your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull, allowing your jaw to move up and down, and side to side. TMJ disorder can cause a host of painful issues. Our dentists can diagnose TMJ Disorder and provide a treatment plan to help alleviate symptoms.
Root Canals
A root canal is a safe and effective dental procedure during which your dentist removes diseased blood vessels, nerves and tissues from the interior of a tooth, preventing the need for an extraction. During this procedure, your dentist will remove the pulp from the tooth, thoroughly clean the space, and then fill the space with medication. To finish, a filling or crown will be added to help restore the tooth's natural appearance and function.
Dental Implants
Using a small titanium screw that functions similar to a natural tooth root, we can help restore your smile by placing dental implants. We perform this procedure as part of the process to replace a missing tooth. Together with a dental restoration such as a bridge or crown, your dental implant will look and feel much like a natural tooth root. Implants can help restore the appearance and function of your natural smile.
